Morehead Planetarium Partnership — Art in Bloom Preview

In February, Lavish Leaf Floral Design Studio had the honor of partnering with Morehead Planetarium and Science Center for a special preview experience leading into this year’s Art in Bloom exhibition.

Designed for the entrance of the planetarium, the installation was rooted in the element of fire — interpreted through sculptural movement, layered botanical textures, and an atmospheric palette that evoked warmth, energy, and transformation. Rising organically through the space, the piece was created to feel immersive from the moment guests arrived, blurring the line between floral design, art installation, and environmental experience.

The collaboration brought together art, science, storytelling, and nature in a way that felt deeply aligned with our studio’s philosophy: that florals should not simply decorate a space, but shape how it is experienced and remembered.

Partnering with an institution as iconic and inspiring as Morehead made this project especially meaningful for our team. Opportunities like these continue to expand the conversation around floral artistry within cultural, architectural, and experiential spaces across the region.

We are incredibly grateful to the Morehead team for their trust, collaboration, and vision in allowing us to help welcome guests into such a thoughtful and inspiring experience.
