The Art of Stillness: A Floral Workshop

This past weekend, Lavish Leaf and Curated Taste gathered a beautiful mix of floral enthusiasts, art lovers, and curious creatives for a workshop rooted in mindfulness, balance, and intentional design. Held at the stunning Meridian at North Hills, our space was filled with natural light, soft conversation, and an atmosphere that invited pause—a perfect backdrop for a afternoon inspired by the gentle elegance of ikebana.

While we didn’t adhere strictly to the traditional Japanese art form, we let its principles guide us. Guests explored the power of asymmetry, negative space, and the quiet dialogue between shape and form. Unlike Western arrangements that often lean into fullness and symmetry, our designs embraced a more sculptural, minimalist approach—thoughtful and poetic, yet still touched with a bit more lushness, offering a nod to Western design without becoming typical.

Adding even more vibrancy to the day, we were thrilled to welcome a few local creatives and lifestyle influencers to join us in the experience. @curatedtaste, @the.bananamoon, @ncmomadventures, @andiwallace_, @peakofapexliving, @wandereat_repeat, @jessica.delovely and @333lovelyleslie brought their warmth, curiosity, and keen eye for beauty to the room—infusing even more inspiration and amplifying the spirit of connection throughout the workshop. It was a delight to watch them explore the art form, share moments with one another, and create designs that reflected their own personalities and style. Each attendee created an arrangement that reflected both their individual expression and the meditative beauty of the materials. It was incredible to witness how nature, when allowed to lead, reveals balance in the most unexpected ways.

Of course, no creative gathering is complete without nourishment—and Sassool Café provided just that. Their light, fresh, and flavorful Mediterranean offerings were the perfect pairing to our afternoon of floral artistry. As guests arranged blooms, sipped, and shared bites together, the room was filled with warmth, connection, and creativity.

What I love most about these experiences is that they go far beyond flowers. They're a chance to slow down, explore, and find a moment of rest in the midst of busy lives. While each arrangement is a keepsake, it’s the energy in the room—the laughter, the stories, the quiet joy—that stays with us long after the final stem is placed.

If you missed this one, we’d love to see you at a future gathering. We host these floral experiences often, always with a fresh theme, a thoughtful space, and a welcoming community. Whether you're new to floral design or simply looking for an inspiring way to spend your day, there's always a seat waiting for you.

Until next time, may you find beauty in the stillness—and let nature guide your creativity.
